Let It Snow! (In the year 2063)

from Jewish Family Christmas Tree! by Jonathan Mann

lyrics

Christmas was in the winter, in a cold you’ve never known
We’d gather around something called a fireplace, and laugh and sing to keep warm
You’ve seen trees in your picture books, well, we’d chop one down, keep it right there inside
We’d cover it with bits of foil, little pictures, they were called ornaments and we also had hundreds of glowing lights

I wish I could build a snow fort with you
Where the plow’s made the snow so high
I wish you could smell the air after
A blizzard fell from the sky
I wish for so very many things
But wishing won’t make it so
I’
Let it snow let it snow let it snow

Have I ever told you about Hannuka
See this this menorah, poor things cracked and split
And you’ve learned about the fire of 39, right?
That’s why we can’t keep any candles lit
Most of all I wish you could feel
How it felt to be topside and young and free
I wish I had done so much more
But there was just so much good TV

I wish I could build a snowman with you
On January first
I wish we could slide down a hill
On a day so cold it hurts
